But the virtues are primarily to be received directly, like love, from she who has practiced them to perfection in order to share them, for she is our Mother. The four Cardinal Virtues are prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. And thus toleration produced not only mutual indulgence, but even religious concord.” President Obama, then, is right. Writes Glendon: This "legalization" of popular culture is both cause and consequence of our increasing tendency to look to law as an expression and carrier of the few values that ate widely shared in our society; liberty, equality, and the ideal of justice under law.

Children disciplined in this book understood virtue, moral convictions, and the importance of making right choices... , e.g. It is the most important of all the Moral Virtues, for it Directs all the other Virtues in Choosing the Proper Means in Attaining their Respective Goals. Without this Virtue, one will not Choose Well nor Live Rightly as regards the Final Goal of his Life. It is not enough to Want to do Good, one must Know the Means he must Choose to achieve that Good. Prudence, says Saint Thomas, is “Right Reason applied to Action” ( II II, 47. 8 ) In applying it to Action the Exercise of the Virtue of Prudence involves Three (3) Steps: 1) Deliberating as to the various Means of Attaining the Desired End; 2) Judging or Deciding on the Means or Action to be taken or not taken; 3) Commanding that the Means decided-upon be put into Action On the basis of such texts, it is small wonder that the church has emphasised the priority of love through the centuries. We might question, however, whether the word love denotes the same thing to us as it did to Jesus or the earty church , e.g. People who have chosen to work and study here have freely forgone personal preferences out of respect for the holiness values that are integral to the Church of God. Although the Church of God has avoided writing and using creedal statements, the commonly accepted foundational tenets of Christianity have always been embraced. [See “We Believe,” a confessional statement written by the faculty of the Anderson University School of Theology in 2003, for an example of a statement of beliefs that would be widely accepted by many in the Church of God.] Thus, while the university does not have a creed, and while we do not ask faculty and staff to sign creedal statements, we expect that all staff and require that all faculty members, managers, administrators, and professional staff be Christian in word and deed

Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant , e.g. In all there are 52 virtues, some of which are: assertiveness caring cleanliness commitment com…passion confidence consideration cooperation courage courtesy creativity detachment determination diligence enthusiasm excellence flexibility forgiveness friendliness generosity gentleness helpfulness honesty honor humility idealism integrity joyfulness justice kindness love loyalty moderation modesty orderliness patience N. must enforce certain morals such as freedom from slavery in order to retain membership in the organization. To be in a state of integrity with our past and our present and to insure that important values are continued into the future, we have chosen to write this statement. We have an obligation to state to the various constituents we serve, i.e., prospective students and their parents, alumni, donors, the Church of God, and prospective faculty and staff, the ideals that bind us together as an academic community , cited:
The moral consensus on sexuality is, no doubt, limited and fragile. Still, because there is a consensus, schools should constantly emphasize these moral virtues and principles by means of their ethos, dress codes, stories told and read, and, of course, in health, home economics, and sex education courses. Sex education must also be moral education Because sin is an ever present reality that has to be dealt with. “What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? You lust and do not have; so you commit murder” ( James 4:1-2 ). At the forefront of much war and conflict is an idolatry that says, “I want more However, I feel that there is something vital in the import of the words of the Spirit, as they are employed in God's message to man through Christ and the New Testament revelation of truth Indeed, when interviewees were asked for specific examples of the values they considered most important to their marriages and families, they gave a diverse assortment of responses. Some described character qualities that they assumed would benefit family relationships but that were not specific to families Further, they cannot decide for us what aspects of wellbeing we want our students to report on. And so, again, even when it comes to the empirical domain of science and psychometric testing, Christian schools invested in positive psychology must yet return to the questions: ‘Whose virtues , source: And they will see His face, and His name will be written on their foreheads. And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. AND THEY WILL REIGN FOREVER AND EVER." 1 Corinthians 15:21-28 "So you see, just as Death came into the world through a man, Adam, now the Resurrection from the Dead has begun through another man, Christ
Several days ago I wrote what I envisioned as my next blog, “Eulogy Virtues Extraordinaire,” about the remarkable life and legacy of Suzanne Wright, co-founder of Autism Speaks. But when I tried to categorize it—one of the essential steps of preparing a blog for the web—I realized it didn’t fit in any of my neat categories: Arts & Culture, Book Review, Cooking & Entertaining, Flowers & Gardens, Grief, Inspiration, Relationships, Travel, Widowhood and Writers & Writing There is more to a worldview than the conceptual nets (or methodology) used by scientists or theologians or philosophers; still, we might say that what is issue is worldviews. For most of history, the governing worldviews of civilization have been religious, but over the course of the last several centuries in the West, modern science has come to provide the dominant worldview of our civilization and, as a result, shape our educational system ref.: This popular work of the Middle Ages helped in propagating the concept of good virtues against the evil vices across Europe. One could be untouched by the seven deadly sins by inculcating the seven heavenly virtues , cited: Even where wives worked, the pretense could be maintained that her income was purely supplementary, supplying the additional cash needed to further the family's standard of living. In recent years young couples have had to deal with a more complex reality More generally, we must become more critically aware of how our participation in the values and images of our culture predisposes us to narrate our lives in such a way as TO render the promises of God irrelevant, 198 Btyond Family Valuws A vital Christian hope requires that we recapture the narrative Imagery of what it means to be a pilgrim people, an exodus people on a lifelong journey to the promised kingdom ref.: The rebirth of the Jewish nation is not only biblically prophetic , cited: The question, however, is whether or not the church itself has also unwittingly embraced another story, namely the cultural identification of familism with the family ref.: When I was in school, we used the term deportment. But whatever we call it, as educators, we've always been interested in building positive, productive citizens , e.g. Government run schools have a problem. 1. It is good for society to have morally good citizens, but the whole concept of morality assumes a standard of right and wrong that is greater than mankind. 2. How do you teach morality without getting into religion? 1. By its own admission, “Values clarification will not tell you what your values should be.” The goal is to get a person to realize they do value certain ideas and that they should live consistent to those values. 2 ref.: These very biggest problems of humanity show the urgent need for a "global intelligence", and the very basic value of human intelligence on a global scale. The most basic principle of any social community are feelings of connectedness which come out of our perception, empathy and awareness that the other human is basically as we are ourselves. This creates trust and a friendly attitude towards the other
