(July 23, 2012) Hussong’s Cantina Las Vegas is the first American location of the original Hussong’s in Ensenada, which has been a Baja California institution since 1892. For $35, (regularly $76), two can enjoy either dinner or lunch with margaritas at this Mandalay Place restaurant that Gayot says “maintains all the charms of the original” and “creates an authentic experience.”
Choose:
• Any shared appetizer, like fresh guacamole or the customer-favorite Plazero grilled corn, which is rubbed with Cotija cheese and spices
• Two entrees, like Dorado lobster tacos (recommended by the Las Vegas Review-Journal) or marinated skirt steak grilled and topped with queso fresco, guacamole and sauteed onions (up to $19 each)
• Two original margaritas; Hussong’s claims the original margarita recipe, invented at the original Ensenada location in 1941
Hussong’s — accessible from either Mandalay Bay or Luxor — features the Rock ‘n Roll Mariachis, a live three-member band that plays a medley of traditional Mexican favorites and American hits.
